What is an Escape Room?

An Escape Room, Exit Game oder Live Escape Game is a new and exciting free-time as well as team-building activity in which you and your team are locked inside of a themed room for 60 minutes. The goal is to find clues and combine items in order to escape the room.

Who can play Escape Rooms?

Anyone! Big Break Hamburg is perfect for family, friends, couples and tourists as well as for corporate events. For the games Jailbreak, Insomnia and Time Travel, we ask that children under 14 be accompanied by an adult. The Toy Maker is playable for players ages 16 and up.

How many people can participate?

To book a room you simply need a team of 2-8 people. Groups size depends on the game: Jailbreak (2-8 people), Insomnia (2-6 people), Time Travel (2-7 people) and The Toy Maker (2-6 people). Simply find a free slot in our online booking calendar. Larger teams have the opportunity to book two or more slots at the same time. How long does an Escape Game last?

The game is booked for a 60min time period. In this time you will be solving puzzles and riddles in order to escape. We ask that you please arrive 15min beforehand for a short introduction and welcome. Afterwards there is a short wrap-up discussion that relates to true stories and information we have built into the game.

How can I book an Escape Room?

You can book directly online using our convenient online booking system. A confirmation will be sent to you by email directly after booking.

When can I book an Escape Room?

For your convenience, we are open seven days a week (Monday-Friday 1:00pm-11:00pm, Saturday 10:00am-11:00pm and Sunday 10:00am-10:00pm). You can be book anytime online through out convenient online booking system. To see available time slots, please click here.

Can I get to Big Break Hamburg with public transportation?

Thanks to its very central location, it is very easy to use public transportation to get to Big Break Hamburg.

  • With the subway U1 to the stop called „Meßberg“ and then a 2 minute walk to Big Break Hamburg.
  • With the subway U3 to the stop called „Rathaus“ and then a 5 minute walk Big Break Hamburg.
  • With the subway U2 or U4 to the stop called „Jungfernstieg“ and then an 8 minute walk to Big Break Hamburg.
  • With the bus numbers 602, M4 or M6 to the stop called „Brandstwiete“and then a 1 minute walk to Big Break Hamburg.
Where can I park?

The parking garage called „Parkhaus Große Reichenstraße“ (Address: Große Reichenstraße 14, 20457 Hamburg) is a 1 minute walk away from Big Break Hamburg. Please note the cost (3 €/h) and the opening hours of the garage. There is also metered parking available on the street.

Do I need to bring anything with me?

There is nothing you need to prepare or bring with you except for a positive attitude and some team-spirit.

Is there an Escape Game dress-code?

There is no dress code at Big Break Hamburg. Please come dressed in whatever you feel most comfortable.

Does Big Break Hamburg offer refreshments?

We are delighted to serve you a cold or warm beverage in our reception area before or after the game. Alcoholic drinks are however not provided.

Are the Escape Games available in different languages?

To best serve our international customers, our Room Escape Game is offered in both German and English, although little language skill is required to participate. We recommend that you have basic knowledge in one of these languages to play.

How much does Big Break Hamburg cost?

Prices vary depending on the size of the group and the day of the week. The more people in your group, the lower the price per person. For a full list of prices, please see our prices.

How can I pay for my Escape Room?

Bookings must be paid for online in advance. You can pay online with PayPal, Credit Card or EC Card. For in-store purchases, it is possible to pay with EC card or Credit Card. We do not accept cash payments.

Where is Big Break Hamburg located?

Big Break Hamburg is centrally located in downtown Hamburg. We are a 5min walk from the Town Hall (Rathaus) and are a 3 minute walk to the Speicherstadt (Warehouse District).
You can find us inside of Neuer Dovenhof (Address: Brandstwiete 1, 20457 Hamburg). Simply walk up the stairs at the main entrance and you will find us on the lobby level.

What happens when it rains in Hamburg?

The weather has no effect on Big Break Hamburg as the entire activity takes place indoors.

Can people with disabilities play?

For people with a physical disability, Jailbreak is absolutely no problem! All that is requried for the game is a sharp mind so players with a physical handicap can participate as well. Even those in a wheelchair can play! We even have a handicap friendly entrance to the right of the main entrance that includes an elevator as well as handicap-friendly restrooms.
We do however recommend physically handicapped players to be accompanied by someone without a handicap.

The games „Insomnia“ and „Time Travel“ are however not made for players with a physical handicap and are slightly more active. Players who book these games should also have no problem with somewhat smaller passages.

Is Big Break Hamburg scary?

None of our games are horror games. Jailbreak’s prison setting and the setting for Time Travel are designed to be as authentic as possible. Players will definitely feel excited but never scared while playing. Insomnia is also not a horror game but rather something magical, bizarre and maybe just a bit creepy.

What happens if I don’t make it out in 60 minutes?

It’s not easy to get out and not everyone makes it, but no worries for those who don’t. If you don’t make it out in time, we will show you the last steps of the game.

Are there emergency exits?

Safety is a number one priority and therefore all of our Room Escape Games contain emergency exists to ensure you can immediately leave the premises in case of an emergency.

Yes! Big Break Hamburg is not only a free-time activity for families and friends, it is also provides the opportunity to plan a teambuilding event for companies, their employees and their customers.
